Christmas Decorating

Christmas is just around the corner. How time flies, isn't it? The crazy shopping and partying, visiting friends and relatives, generous gift giving, cooking, drinking and eating, and decorating are here again!

You can do a major redecorating work or a simple home makeover. Either case, allot enough time to beautify your home. Christmas time can be quite hectic as it is with the shopping and partying that adding a home decorating rush can make this supposedly happy time stressful. At least a month before your Christmas celebration will do. Organize your things, fix up clutter, do some cleaning and rearrange the furniture if needed. Take into consideration the time you need for repainting, refurbishing and redecorating.

A quick home fix is to decorate with area rugs. There are rugs especially made or designed to suit Christmas. The colors are predominantly red, green and white and the designs are mostly Christmas-themed. So if you really want to be in the season, adorn your home with Christmas rugs. Regardless, any rug will do as long as it complements the rest of the room. Better yet, use the Christmas colors for a more festive look.

Since the living room and the dining room are the two places where guests will be entertained mostly during Christmas, these are the rooms that should be decorated the most though if you do have children they would surely insist on having their room decorated too for Christmas. The Christmas tree is the first thing I would recommend, to decorate your home, as it is the main thing that a child looks forward to on Christmas day. Decorations made in the shape of mistletoes and bells, snowmen and Santa are lovely to hang around in the house. Try your hands at making them and later they can be proudly shown off. Poinsettia's, Christmas candles and stockings placed or hanging from the mantel, at this time of the year, would add a touch of glamour to the room. A big Christmas wreath with hollies, bows and ribbons would be a welcome sight at the door.

Another significant area is the dining room where you will share meals with family and friends. Like the living room, it must be a happy place to be. Decorate the dining table with an attractive centerpiece such as poinsettia and greens, either fresh or artificial. A basket of goodies is also a great decor, as well as a giveaway for guests.

Finally, lighten up! - Both your mood and your house. It's Christmas anyway. Make your mood as bubbly as your house...or the other way around. Whichever way, make sure your home and family are in a merry merry Christmas mood.
